The Benefits of Studying in Finland

When you are looking for somewhere to study, many people look to the big countries like USA, England, or Australia. However, there are some other smaller countries that in fact offer a higher level of education then the more popular places. One such place is Finland in Europe.

Finland boasts of one of and internationally recognised modern and very high standard of education. It has one of the highest literacy rates in Europe and it’s mix of unspoiled natural beauty and historic sights, makes it a great place to get your education done. The Finnish higher education system is the same that is followed throughout Europe (The Bologna System) and therefore allows students to transfer out when the wish as the can use European Credit Transfer System to help measure the amount of higher education credits that have been accumulated. The Bologna system also means that Finland follow that Bachelor/Masters system, which allocates 3 years and 180 ECTS Credits for Bachelor’s Degree and 1 to 2 years and 60 to 120 ECTS credits for Master’s Degree. Admission to higher education institutes in Finland follow a simple process as most of them just require you to have completed secondary education. Most of the universities and colleges have their English and non-English programs at different locations but use the same application process. Currently the fees for Non-EU students are not out and do very from the EU students, as would be expected, however the monthly costs of living are around 700-900. Finally, we come to the last part of the formalities, this is with Visas and travelling. Generally, citizens of EU states need not apply for a visa if that don’t stay for more than 3 months, however citizens from Scandinavian countries need not apply at all and work and live if Finland if they wish. Students from countries outside the EU must apply from the designated Finnish Embassy.

However, these are not all the reasons you should consider Finland for your higher education needs. One of the main reasons is the country itself, while it is truly a beautiful place to live in and its natural beauty is amazing, the people are equally amazing too. The government is also very welcoming to people from outside and even offers free tuition

in certain circumstances while also being the least corrupt government in the world. It’s also important to note that while the country is not an English speaking one, there tons of courses offered in English and 70% of the public speak English there too. Coming to Finland will also give you the opportunity to visit the rest of Europe, with its central location, Finland gives your great access to Eastern and Western Europe.

So, if you are looking for a great and exciting place to go to not only further your education but to also see some of few unspoiled pieces of nature that is left in the world and learn something new from a different culture, forget about the other countries and consider Finland.
